Law Graduate Jobs Predicted to Rise
The number of law graduate jobs is expected to rise by 5.4 per cent this year according to Association of Graduate Recruiters’ (AGR) bi-annual survey. This finding is a positive step forward as it was predicted that there would be a fall of 1.2 per cent in available jobs across all sectors.
AGR Law Graduate Jobs Findings
AGR carried out a survey which predicted all law firm vacancies would rise by 14.6 per cent between 2009/2010 recruitment seasons (28 June 2011) which is great news for students looking for law graduate jobs.
The legal sector has seen an increase of 11.4 per cent proving success over all as it was expected that all sectors rose by 1.7 per cent, lead by accountancy or professional service firms.
Investment banks/fund managers are predicted to have the highest fall in graduate jobs across all sectors with a massive 41.7 per cent fall, not good news for investment fund managers!
Salaries for Law Graduate Jobs
The survey also showed the median salary law graduate jobs to remain steady at £37000, behind investment bankers or fund managers at £38250.
Law firms will now start to look at other benefits such as flexible working arrangements instead of increasing salaries to remain competitive within the law profession industry.
What DG Academy Says About Law Graduate Jobs
Daniel Taylor, Operations Manager at Duncan Gibbins Solicitors shares his view:

Daniel believes these new figures mustn't cause students to become complacent when applying for law graduate jobs
“Even if the number of jobs rises, it’s still a very competitive job market with all the power in the hands of Firms. The demands placed on those looking for a Training Contract are high and Students need to do as much as they can to research and meet those demands DURING their Law Degree and BEFORE the LPC”
