I joined the accounts team in April 2011, having previously worked for four years within another accounts department. I was only the “new girl” for two days as several more new starters began here the same week and I’m still struggling to remember everyone’s name!.
Personal/Career Highlight
So far no major career highlights, but personal highlights include meeting my scouse “fella” on a great night out in Liverpool in June 2004 and our wedding in September 2005. Also passing my “Life in the UK” test (my English colleagues didn’t know the answers to half of the questions on it!) and getting my indefinite leave to remain in the good old United Kingdom.
The Best Part of the Job
One of the best things about my job is the variety; so I don’t feel like I’m doing the same old boring things every day. I’m learning new skills all the time. We also have a great group of people working here who can get the job done but still have a laugh together so I enjoy coming in to work.
Hobbies/Interests
My main hobby is reading. I love science fiction, historical fiction and “chick lit”. I also enjoy travelling, especially to places of historical interest or with good beaches, ideally both! My husband and I also support animal shelters and charities, partly by adopting nearly every random cat that shows its face (6 so far…).
Alternative Career
Had I not gone into accounting I would have probably ended up as a librarian, although I probably wouldn’t have gotten much work done with my nose in a book all day
