Duncan Gibbins Solicitors are delighted to announce their new venture in becoming a Business Partner to Rice Lane Infants and Nursery School, based in Walton, Liverpool.
Duncan Gibbins Solicitors are going back into the classroom to offer the children of Rice Lane Infants and Nursery School an opportunity to develop their skills in an exciting and entrepreneurial environment.
Head teacher, Mrs Chatburn has invited local businesses to participate in the scheme, stating that ‘as a school part of our job is to prepare the children to become citizens of the future, to encourage them to think about jobs in the future, and to teach them life skills which they will require in the future. We would like the children to become familiar with business protocol and to also develop their skills for life’
Volunteers at Duncan Gibbins Solicitors in Knowsley who normally specialise in helping victims of accidents and advising clients on personal injury claims, aim to assist the teachers by providing general information on the business, answering any questions and giving short talks about the day to day requirements of running a solicitors practice in Liverpool. It is hoped that the children will benefit from direct contact with a local business and gain some of the skills necessary to prepare for a bright and fruitful career. They will coach these citizens of the future by developing their communication skills, teaching them important life skills and helping to nurture their future career interests.
Matthew Dean of Duncan Gibbins Solicitors stated that he was delighted to accept the invitation for the firm to become a Business Partner and that he would look to support the school in any way that he could.
We are sure that our new partnership will prove to be popular with both the children and volunteers at Duncan Gibbins Solicitors.
Legal services as we know it today will be a very different creature post October 2011, with the introduction of Alternative Business Structures permitted to take shape. This will create further competition amongst law firms. At Duncan Gibbins, we believe that we will be ready to take on any future changes, but our ethos will be the same as today and that will be to offer our client the best service possible. Many of our clients work and therefore at times this may cause some difficulty in obtaining our clients instructions to progress their personal injury claim. From the 6th April 2010, we have decided to extend our working hours from 8am to 8pm Monday to Friday, in addition to Saturday’s 9am to 5pm. We believe that this will have a positive effect on our clients claim and it will also allow us to be contactable by you out of normal office hours. Any member of the team will be willing to help.
We are also currently looking at extending our legal services in the coming months, watch this space for details!
Climate change is emerging as one of the great challenges for modern society. Whilst current research is emerging that is questioning the link between climate change and how much impact the human world is having on global warming it is still important that we take steps to try and combat our ‘Carbon Footprint’ both on an individual and company level.
Since moving into Forum House in March 2009 accident claims specialist solicitors Duncan Gibbins Solicitors have been taking positive steps to reduce their ‘Carbon Footprint’. Duncan Gibbins Solicitors have been working with Shred-it to securely destroy and recycle waste paper.
The initiative has meant that in 2009 Duncan Gibbins Solicitors saved 12 trees from destruction.
Globally Shred-it’s customers shred and recycle more than 520 thousand tonnes of paper each year. Shred-it destroys confidential documents in a safe and secure manner which are then recycled into new paper products which helps to conserve the world’s natural resources.
By recycling in this way we are able to save 9.4 million tress, 14 million litres of water, 661,000 tonnes of carbon dioxide, 14.2 million kgs of general air pollution and 1.3 million cubic metres of landfill space by not using virgin materials to manufacture new paper.
Duncan Gibbins Solicitors are always looking for new ways to cut down on the amount of paper they use. With the recent expansion in the usage of the internet and mobile phones the introduction of text messaging and emailing compensation claim clients has proved a popular and environmentally friendly way to provide information to clients and usage is likely to increase in the coming years.
With the new Ministry of Justice guidelines set to come in April 2010 not only will the way road traffic accident claims are dealt with be revolutionised but also thanks to a new industry led electronic portal. The portal will not only allow for the swift, electronic exchange of all relevant accident claim information and related documentation between relevant parties but it will also enable key decisions to be communicated more quickly, thus reducing the need for written communication to pass back and forth between parties. By making the flow of information more streamlined the operational costs will be reduced as will the effects on the environment.
Duncan Gibbins Solicitors are committed to putting in place more measures that will ensure that they waste less not only in terms of recycling but also through things such as turning off electrical equipment when it is not in use.
